Prawn Moilee

  • Wash and clean the prawns thoroughly
  • Peel the ginger and garlic and cut into slices. Slice the onion and slit the green chillies into halves. Cut the tomato into thick slices
  • In a pan, heat coconut oil, temper the whole peppercorn. As the pepper crackles add in the ginger, garlic, chillies and curry leaves
  • Cook for 2 minutes, making sure it does not burn then add in the sliced onion
  • Cook till the onion turns translucent, add in the turmeric powder, sauté for 2 minutes and add in the prawns
  • Sauté till the prawn gets a bit of colour. Add in a little water and cook till the prawn gets cooked
  • Add in the coconut milk and mix well. Add in salt and lemon juice
  • Cook for two minutes till the desired consistency is reached
  • Add in the tomatoes and cook for 2 minutes
  • Serve hot with rice



  • Medium sized prawns - 1kg
  • Ginger - 50gm
  • Garlic - 4-5cloves

  • Turmeric powder - 1½tsp
  • Coconut milk - ½litre
  • Lemon juice - 2tbs
  • Coconut oil - 100ml
  • Salt - 2tsp
